Established in 1989 by Walter H. Annenberg, the Annenberg Foundation provides funding and support to nonprofit organizations in the United States and globally through its headquarters in Radnor, Pennsylvania and offices in Los Angeles, California. Its major program areas are education and youth development; arts, culture and humanities; civic and community; health and human services; and animal services and the environment. In addition, the Foundation operates a number of initiatives which expand and complement these program areas. The Annenberg Foundation exists to advance the public well-being through improved communication. As the principal means of achieving this goal, the Foundation encourages the development of more effective ways to share ideas and knowledge.

Mission

The Annenberg Foundation is the successor corporation to the Annenberg School at Radnor, Pennsylvania established in 1958 by Walter H. Annenberg. It exists to advance the public well-being through improved communication. As the principal means of achieving its goal, the Foundation encourages the development of more effective ways to share ideas and knowledge.

Guidelines for Grantseekers

The Annenberg Foundation provides support for projects within its grant-making interest areas of: education and youth development; arts, culture and humanities; civic and community; health and human services; and animal services and the environment. The Foundation only considers organizations defined as a public charity and tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Creating Opportunities: Fifteen Years of Advancing the Public Good

The Annenberg Foundation presents its 15th Anniversary report to convey the scope and depth of its investments in education, the arts, civic life and health. Over the last 15 years, the Foundation has awarded some 5,200 grants totaling more than $2.8 billion.

PA Coaching Initiative Applauds Governor Rendell for Budget Commitment to Education
PHILADELPHIA, PA:  Ellen Eisenberg, executive director of the Pennsylvania High School Coaching Initiative (PAHSCI), an embedded one-on-one instructional coaching, mentoring, and professional development program for high school educators, today praised Governor Edward G. Rendell’s proposed 2008-09 General Fund budget, which would strengthen the state’s education system by targeting investments for programs proven to enhance student achievement.

PRINCETON, NJ:  To help overhaul teacher education and encourage some of the nation’s most talented college graduates to seek long-term teaching careers in high-need classrooms, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation launched today an unprecedented teaching fellowship program at the state and national levels funded initially at $17 million by leading philanthropies.

Caltech Breaks Ground on Annenberg Center
PASADENA, CA:  The California Institute of Technology will break ground on the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Center for Information Science and Technology at 11 a.m. December 7 at Caltech.
